Local Menace privacy

Your details.
Your call.

Here is how the free daily joke and optional Personal Menace use information you choose to share.

The free experience

You can use the free daily joke without an account or precise location. Your installation has its own credential and settings: your chosen city or topic, language and tone preferences, time zone, reminder settings, saved jokes, feedback, and streak counters.

If you enable reminders, we store a push token to reach that installation. City or Topic jokes may appear in notification previews according to your device settings. Installation-data deletion removes the associated settings, saves, streak, and delivery data.

Personal Menace

Personal Menace is a separate paid feature with a guest account and optional verified recovery email. We keep the account, linked installations, subscription access, consent, and private material separate from the free daily edition. RevenueCat verifies subscription access with the billing store.

Before saving personal material, you confirm that you are 18 or older, accept playful roasts, and acknowledge how your original text is processed. The current acknowledgement covers storing your wording and sending it to OpenAI. Existing accounts with an older acknowledgement can keep using their previously saved material and are asked to agree before saving original text.

What happens to your words

You can save up to 50 details, including your current Daily check-in, with up to 500 characters per detail. Categories help organize your material; they do not require particular words.

Onboarding answers stay in screen memory until you continue from the final review. We send the submitted text to OpenAI for moderation. After onboarding, each new detail or replacement check-in is checked when you save it. Text that is rejected is not saved as profile material; it has still been sent to OpenAI for that check.

Accepted original wording is encrypted in our database and shown back to your signed-in account. We send accepted material to OpenAI to write your private roast. Moderation checks content categories; it does not verify facts, ownership, or whether a sentence contains personal information. Avoid passwords, secrets, contact information, and other people's private details.

OpenAI processes the submitted text under its applicable service data controls. Your original answers are not included in the editorial dashboard, application logs, analytics, or notification payloads. Older records contain only their previously saved reduced phrases; discarded original sentences cannot be recovered.

Your material controls

Your material shows what is saved. A new Daily check-in replaces the current one and applies to the next roast. Removing a detail deletes its newly stored original-text record and makes older roasts based on removed material unreadable. Earlier encrypted preparation snapshots may remain until their normal expiry.

Withdrawing private context stops future preparation and delivery and purges your stored material, prepared roasts, saved roasts, and personal delivery records. The account remains available for subscription recovery. Pausing or withdrawing Personal Menace does not cancel store billing; manage your subscription through the billing store.

Reminders, widgets, and sharing

Personal reminders are optional and use generic copy. A private widget requires a separate opt-in to show roast text on your Home Screen. Widget refresh and clearing depend on the operating system, so previously displayed text may remain until it refreshes.

The app can keep a minimal copy of today's roast in secure storage on your device so you can read it while access is being checked or a connection is unavailable. This device-only copy is bound to the same installation and account and ends at the earliest daily, roast, or known subscription expiry. It cannot authorize sharing or other private actions. Changes made elsewhere may remain unknown while offline; refreshing checks the server.

After you confirm sharing a private roast, the app creates a temporary PNG for your device's share sheet and removes that temporary file when sharing finishes, is canceled, fails, or private access changes. People and services you share with control their copies; removing material from the app cannot recall them.

Service health and privacy requests

This website uses Vercel Web Analytics to measure page views and general usage. We do not send support form contents, personal material, or private roast text as analytics events.

Expo/EAS collects limited app-launch, version-adoption, performance, navigation, and stability telemetry. We do not attach personal material, private roast text, credentials, or push tokens to this telemetry.

For a privacy question or data request, use the support form and choose Privacy or data request. Include only what is needed to describe your request; keep credentials and private material out of the message.
